1966 and 1967 Lincoln Continental Door Open Warning Switch (for the passenger side. Reproduction.
This grounding switch is found in the passenger side rear door of 1966 and 1967 Lincoln Continental convertibles, sedans and coupes.
In the convertible it controls the "Auto Drop" of the rear windows. When the latch is activated, the window will drop several inches to allow the window to clear the top cloth as it opens and also allows the vertical weather strip between the front and rear doors to separate sufficiently so that they do not interfere with each other as the door opens.
On sedans and coupes, this switch activates the courtesy lights as the door opens.
These commonly fail due to corrosion. Failure will cause the window not to auto drop and courtesy lights not to come on.
